The Marshall Islands has just launched a national basic income program A real-world first national UBI rollout began last week. Every eligible citizen of the Marshall Islands will receive regular cash payments (about US$800 via four quarterly installments) regardless of employment status or income level, funded by a trust tied to the country’s Compact with the United States. Officials say it’s meant to provide economic security and discourage outward migration.
